Hillary Clinton: From First Lady to Secretary of State

Early Life and Career

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton was born on October 26, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Yale Law School in 1973 and went on to practice law in Arkansas, where she met her future husband, Bill Clinton.

First Lady

When Bill Clinton was elected President of the United States in 1992, Hillary Clinton became First Lady. During her time in the White House, she focused on healthcare reform and early childhood education. She also co-founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.

Secretary of State

After Bill Clinton left the Presidency, Hillary Clinton served as a United States Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009. In 2009, she was appointed Secretary of State by President Barack Obama. As Secretary of State, Clinton worked to promote American interests abroad and strengthen international alliances.
