Deshaun Watson Receives 11-Game Suspension from NFL

NFL and NFL Players Association Reach Agreement

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has received an 11-game suspension from the NFL following an appeal of his original six-game ban. The NFL and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) agreed to the suspension, which will keep Watson off the field for the majority of the upcoming season.

Original Ruling and Appeal

In June, retired federal judge Sue L. Robinson ruled that Watson should be suspended for six games for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. Watson was accused of sexual misconduct and sexual assault by 24 women during his time with the Houston Texans. He has denied all allegations, and no criminal charges have been filed against him.

Watson appealed the six-game suspension, and the NFL and NFLPA agreed to an 11-game ban as a compromise. The suspension will begin with the first game of the 2022 regular season. Watson will be eligible to return to the field in Week 13.
